Faced with increasing vandalism due to “urban creep” and theft due to high energy prices, there is a growing concern about security and controlled access to exploration and production sites as well as above ground pipeline/transmission monitoring facilities. Currently, the majority of these sites are controlled, if at all, by the traditional “daisy chain” of pad locks on chain link gates. Most operations managers recognize the inadequacy of their current solution, but given the typical remoteness and lack of utilities at these sites, it was the only reasonable solution. CelAccess changes all of that. Oil and gas owners and operators now have the ability to provide controlled access to employees and vendors, to have detailed records of who entered and when, all at a nominal cost.

Example: A mud company needed to allow trucks to pick up and dump drilling mud. The location was sixty miles from the company’s office. Keypads did not offer sufficient security as drivers could share their code with anyone. Once the CelAccess GC-1010 Cellular Access Controller was installed on the electronic gate, the company instructed drivers to call the office when they arrive at the gate. Now office personnel can use their phone or Internet to open the gate without the need to travel 60 miles to open the facility or give out access codes, saving time and money. Knowing that the gate opened, that it closed and stayed closed using CelAccess' remote monitoring feature, the company increased both their security and peace of mind.
