Electrical Transmission Facilities

Protecting the nation’s energy infrastructure has become a major concern. NERC requirements have been enacted which require companies to have records of access to their facilities. Obviously, a chain link gate with one or more padlocks doesn’t provide sufficient control and offers no reporting. In addition to its cost effectiveness, one of the most important components of the CelAccess products are their detailed report generating capability. Regardless of the remoteness of the facility, if cellular service is available, power companies now have the ability to not only control who enters their facilities and when, but can now account for entry and exit, the time of day, the caller ID and access code of the person entering.

Example: CelAccess' CG-1010, combined with a pedestrian electronic lock, was installed on a chain link gate around a highly populated urban sub-station, eliminating the insecure chain and typical multi-padlock method. This low cost solution allows easy access for those that have authorized access codes while maintaining detailed records of who entered and when. The company also installed an infrared detection system just inside the entrance. Using CelAccess' remote monitoring feature, they are now able to monitor any security breach which might occur at the front gate the moment it happens.
