Public and Private Airports
Access control due to heightened security at large and small airports alike, is a huge and growing problem for airport operations managers. Since a majority of airports were built pre-9/11 when security was not an issue, virtually no access control systems were installed. Now, after the fact, airports are beginning to explore securing the numerous gate access points around their perimeters, many of which are very remote. Due to existing hanger and support facilities that ring the property boundaries as well as most airport surfaces being covered by concrete, access control systems that use "line-of-sight" technology or traditional "hard-wired" solutions are either impossible or cost prohibitive. Utilizing cellular technology, the self-contained CelAccess systems offer a unique, easily installed and cost effective solution to this problem.
Example: A regional public airport in Texas needed to increase security while allowing easy access to customers. One of the major tenants of the airport, a jet charter service, wanted to allow their customers to enter their hanger gate but they had no access control system at the gate. With CelAccess products installed, the charter company created permanent access codes for their employees and "just for the day" codes for each of their visiting customers, all without the excessive cost of trenching through concrete and running wires.
